We all make assumptions, often without realising it. Designed for coaches, volunteers, officials and club leaders, this course explores how unconscious bias can influence decision-making, behaviour and experiences in sport. Learners will develop a greater awareness of their own biases and discover practical strategies to support fairer, more inclusive sporting environments.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Explain what unconscious bias is and why it matters in sport.
- Identify common types of bias and understand their impact on inclusion, fairness and belonging.
- Reflect on their own assumptions and how these can influence decisions and interactions.
- Apply practical strategies to recognise and reduce unconscious bias.
- Contribute to creating inclusive sporting environments where everyone feels valued and supported.
